(Apr. 29, 2011 Slidell, LA) Slidell Memorial Hospital Foundation and St. Tammany Homestead will host Rooftop Rendezvous 2011 on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 8 to 11p.m. on rooftop of the SMH parking garage.
Food, music and fun take center stage for this year's fundraising event for Slidell Memorial Hospital. The rooftop party under the stars will feature the music of MoJEAUX, a seven-piece Rhythm & Blues band.
"You're in for some great surprises at Rooftop Rendezvous. Besides, who knew that Slidell had a great skyline view? says Aimee Smallwood, SMH Foundation's Executive Director. "There's going to be a great vibe this year people have been calling for information, so we'll definitely have a crowd.
For the fourth year in a row, Mayor Freddy Drennan and his posse of chefs will be on the roof to serve up generous helpings of his famous brisket. "I start two days ahead to slow roast it, and, no, I won't give out the recipe, he laughs. Rendezvous guests request the brisket each year and there will be 300 pounds of it on-hand.
Reservations can be made by calling (985)649-8820 or by visiting http://www.smhfdn.org/. Tickets are $100 per person. Table sponsorships are available for $1,200. A silent auction will be held, and specialty cocktails along with other libations will be served, with dancing under the stars.
Approximately 300 guests attended last year's Rooftop Rendezvous, enjoying roasted suckling pig and sampling food from some of the area's best restaurants. This year's menu includes: Grits and Grillades from Bistro de la Reine; Lollypop Lamb chops atop Mushroom Couscous with Rosemary Lamb Sauce from the Blue Bayou Bar & Grill at the Silver Slipper Casino; Copeland's, Shrimp and Tasso Pasta and White Chocolate Bread Pudding; Chesterfield's, Gumbo; Sunrise on Second, chicken ettouffe and blueberry cheesecake bread pudding; Nathan's Restaurant's Chilled Crab Salad and Young's Restaurant's Grilled Quail and Beef Kabobs.
Funds raised will be used to support the SMH Regional Cancer Center and the new SMH Women's Imaging Center under construction on Gause Boulevard. The SMH Regional Cancer Center began serving patients in January. The new Women's Imaging Center will include space for the presentation of women's medical education programs and imaging services will be offered in a peaceful, spa-like atmosphere.
