Bringing an extensive background and success as a fundraiser and grant writer for health-related organizations, Laurie Panzeca champions the role of executive director at the SMH Foundation.

Laurie has worked in the nonprofit sector in the New Orleans area for 15 years, with an emphasis on health-related organizations and causes. Most recently she spearheaded fundraising for the YMCA of Greater New Orleans as their director of organizational advancement.

Laurie is a 2009 graduate of Leadership St. Tammany. An active volunteer, she serves on the local board of the Boys & Girls Club, Southeast Louisiana; on the board of the St. Tammany Commission on Families; and as a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals, Northshore Chapter; and the Mayor’s Council on Healthy Lifestyles in Covington.

Over the past few years alone, the SMH Foundation raised funds to support the Slidell Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Center, the new Women’s Imaging Center, the annual Fit as a Firefighter camp, SMH Community Outreach and health programs serving more than 5,000 school-aged children.

To strengthen the foundation’s work, Laurie’s goals are to reach out into the community to educate residents and business owners about the impact a robust foundation can have in funding critical resources, services and programs that help improve the community’s health.
