SMH Installs Two New State-of-the-Art MRI Machines Following Voter-Approved Hospital Millage
Slidell, LA (2025) — Thanks to the support of the Slidell community, Slidell Memorial Hospital (SMH) has completed the installation of two new MRI machines at the SMH Imaging Center, marking a significant advancement in diagnostic imaging capabilities. The machines were installed on December 1 and are already enhancing the level of care available to patients.
The new MRI systems were made possible through the hospital millage approved by voters in 2025. Funds from the millage are supporting multiple projects aimed at improving and expanding patient care services across SMH.
The MRI machines feature Siemens Sola Magnet technology, offering higher-quality imaging and faster scan times. This advanced technology allows SMH technicians to capture more detailed diagnostic information with increased accuracy, supporting physicians in delivering the best possible medical care. Reduced scan times also improve patient comfort by shortening the time spent in the MRI machine.
The installation of the new MRI machines reflects SMH’s ongoing commitment to growth, innovation, and patient-centered care. As additional millage-funded projects move forward, SMH looks forward to continuing to enhance services and expand access to advanced medical care for the Slidell community.
