Application deadline is May 22 for SMH Summer Junior Volunteers program

Slidell Memorial Hospital is accepting applications for its Summer Junior Volunteer Program until May 22. Junior Volunteers must be at least 15 years old, attend a mandatory orientation and volunteer a minimum of 40 hours over the summer to graduate from the program.

There are a limited number of volunteer assignments available so early submission of the application packet is recommended.

The benefits of volunteering as a teenager are numerous, according to SMH Volunteer Coordinator Laurie Manley. She said they include:

· Exploring potential careers paths

· Building contacts/references outside of the school setting

· Developing a reputation for "going the extra mile”

· Making a difference to others

· Gaining a sense of satisfaction

· Volunteering looks great on resumes and college applications

Application packets are available online at www.SlidellMemorial.org (click on the News tab). Completed application packets with all forms must be received by May 22.
