Cocran honored for 25 years volunteer service at SMH

Slidell Memorial Hospital officials are honoring Edith Cocran of Slidell to mark her 25th anniversary as a volunteer at the community hospital.

When Cocran joined the SMH Volunteers 25 years ago, her goal then was the same it is today, she said: "To give back to the community and hospital I love.”

Over the years, her volunteer assignments have changed and grown. Cocran said there wasn't one placement in the hospital that she didn't enjoy. Currently she volunteers in the Gift Shop.

"Volunteers are an essential part of our mission to care for the people of our community,” SMH Chief Executive Officer Bill Davis said. "Edith has given of herself to this community for a quarter century, and I am in awe of her commitment and generous spirit.”
