At a special meeting of the Slidell Memorial Hospital Board of Commissioners tonight, the Board voted unanimously to offer the position of Chief Executive Officer to Bill Davis, who has been the acting CEO since July 2011.

Although 96 percent of Americans feel it is unacceptable for someone to drive when they are so sleepy they have trouble keeping their eyes open, about one-third of Americans admit doing so, according to a recent study by the AAA Foundation. To help prevent deaths and injuries, the Slidell Memorial Hospital Sleep Disorders Center is sending out tips to help members of the community prevent driving drowsy.

Hurst will highlight a special program this month at Slidell Memorial Hospital to help you determine your "true birth order.” Armed with this understanding, Hurst says, will help you better interact with and understand your family and friends.

Slidell Memorial Hospital's Women's Health Alliance (WHA) will hold its Fall Seminar October 25, featuring health screenings from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch, a presentation and a fashion show. The event will take place at the Northshore Harbor Center, 100 Harbor Center Blvd. Tickets are $35 per person and are available at several ticket location throughout Slidell.

No matter how great your weight loss motivation, you invariably break your diet at some point. Why is that? Slidell Memorial Hospital Chief Clinical Dietitian Paula Brown says one reason a person breaks his or her diet is because they're hungry – in some way – and food is everywhere!
