What is the BMI requirement for weight loss surgery?

BMI has limitations as a measure of obesity, but it is still a valuable tool for identifying individuals who may be good candidates for our comprehensive obesity treatment program. We see patients with a BMI of 30 or higher who have at least one obesity-related condition, such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, GERD or fatty liver disease.

We also see patients with a BMI of 35 or higher.

How does SADI-S surgery work?

Single anastomosis duodeo-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy surgery, commonly called SADI-S surgery, is a minimally invasive procedure that removes 70% of the stomach.

This procedure makes a new connection between the first part of the small intestine (the duodenum) that connects to the last part of the small intestine (the ileum).

What is the difference between gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy?

Gastric bypass surgery makes a new connection between the stomach and small intestine. It does not remove any part of your stomach.

In a sleeve gastrectomy, 70 to 80% of the stomach is removed. No new intestinal connections are made.
